The Disgrace of GRACE...
This selection of Zoe Saldana is a HOT-BUTTON Topic that is getting
tremendous amounts of publicity via the internet/blogs and entertainment
forums and we all KNOW what they say about PUBLICITY (Right?!!?)
ANY KIND OF PUBLICITY (Positive OR Negative) IS GOOD PUBLICITY!!!!!
That's actually a Hollyweird Directive-n-Protocol that is adhered to
like "The CREED of The Actor" or "The Rules of Engagement" for the Military.
For those that aren't quite familiar with Zoe... She is one of the NEW
Hollyweird IT Girls which means she's being pushed by the ELITES within
the industry to always be considered for the TOP Female roles preferably
in Big Budget Movies, Action Ensembles or Starring vehicle Roles that will
broaden her appeal amongst the Movie-Ticket buying public. Halle Berry once
had a strangle hold on this position as far as females of color in Hollyweird
But Failed marriages & High-Profile relationships, having a Child and this
very public Baby-Daddy DRAMA has dimmed her spotlight considerably. Now Halle still has stature within the industry but her issues has made room for Zoe to come in and make a name for herself. And let's not forget that Hollyweird is always looking for young females to turn out and make hundreds of millions of dollars for their sole benefit. That's the RULE OF THUMB for Hollyweird.
Here's an excerpt from an outstanding article from Kola Boof regarding Zoe Saldana being chosen to play Nina Simone in a movie biopic directed by Cynthia Mort.
The film’s White woman director (bursting with good intentions as white women
always are) unwittingly demonstrates why White women and Black women have not
been able to forge a true sisterhood-the white sister can’t see the Black
sister’s reality even when staring straight at her. And because of that
inability to see us, the image chosen to represent Nina becomes a mocking
dehumanization, an erasure of Nina’s swarthy and robust Black victory.
Everything Nina stood for while surviving in that Black body becomes whitened
and desensitized by the cloying signature of dishonesty. But of course, White
people are making this film for White people anyway. None of these films
from “Django Unchained” to “Nina” give a care about the Black people they’re
depicting. They’d cast Adele (the overrated twang crooner) as Nina if they
thought they could get away with it. As an African-born woman, not a true
Westerner, I feel completely comfortable stating what’s obvious-that it matters
that the woman who plays Nina Simone be dark enough. And that it matters that
she have ties to the American Southern States (Dixie they call it).
It matters that she be grounded in the lacerating reality of America’s
unrelenting anti-Black woman imaging and socialization.
How someone claiming to love Nina and wanting to honor Nina could fail to see
the importance in that is beyond my comprehension. I detest Cynthia Mort.
I suspect Capitalism and typical Miss Anne entitlement and delusion are her real conduits.
It's quite refreshing to hear the opinion of a trusted female perspective regarding a female geared issue that directly coincide with your own perspective as a male.
I've never been a fan of Zoe or Crack-Skinny Hollyweird females of any color and I've always been highly suspect of BLACK FEMALES that pounce so willingly to adhere to THEIR standards from a professional-protocol perspective as well as Morality-WISE. And by looking at these pictures the fact that Zoe Saldana is wholeheartedly willing to Figuratively-n-Literally play BLACK-FACE is the Epitome of "The Disgrace of GRACE".

This didn't occur to me until I read your blog entry. It really makes sense. I love Zoe Saldana, but choice for the role makes as much sense as, say---DR MLK Jr being played by the actor Jesse Williams.
